Red Ribbon Week Special Event

On Tuesday, October 27th, CVUHSD teamed with the National Latino Peace Officers Association, North Los Angeles Chapter to host a special event with guest speaker Mika Camarena. This year marked the 30th anniversary of National Red Ribbon Week which commenced in honor of DEA Agent Enrique Camarena, who was slain while fighting the war on drugs in the United States and abroad. Agent Camarena's widow, Mika Camarena, was the keynote guest speaker at this event to address high school students on the danger of drugs. This memorial event was educational and benefit all students.

Students entered an essay contest on the theme Respect Yourself. Be Drug Free. Leuzinger High School student Precious Onwuka won the contest and took home a new laptop and wireless printer.
