About the Citizens’ Oversight Committee

The Citizens' Oversight Committee (COC) plays a vital role in ensuring transparency and accountability in the Centinela Valley Union High School District’s (CVUHSD) use of school bond funds and/or Parcel Tax proceeds. Comprising seven members appointed by the Board of Education, the COC reviews school bond and/or Parcel Tax expenditures.


Each COC member represents a distinct segment of the community, including senior citizens, parents, businesses, or taxpayers. With a commitment to serving a maximum of three, two-year terms, COC members bring diverse perspectives and expertise to their oversight responsibilities.


Committee Members

Committee members may serve a maximum of three 2-year terms, totaling 6 years.

  • Vice Chairperson: Leithelle Williams, At-Large Community Representative
  • Member: Fabiola Smith, Parent/Guardian of Enrolled Child
  • Member: Shirley Jones, At-Large Community Member
  • Member: Scott Smith, Parent/Guardian of Enrolled Child/PTO
  • Member: TBD, Tax Payer Organization
  • Member: TBD, Business Representative

The Board of Trustees of the Centinela Valley Union High School District is seeking qualified, interested individuals to serve on a committee of community leaders which will serve as the independent Citizens' Oversight Committee ("COC") for the District's Measure CV, Measure LP and Measure SP bond programs as well as the Measure CL Parcel Tax. We have vacancy(s) in the following membership category(s):

  • Taxpayer Organization Member
  • Business Representative

 

Community members may also apply for one of the following membership categories.  Applicants for these categories will be put on a waitlist and their applications reviewed once an opening becomes available. If you or anyone you know is interested in being a part of this committee, please have them apply.
